Hi, my friends. I want to present some interesting articles from FORTUNE magazine, May 5, 2008. I hope you will find them interesting.

Business aviation

This article is about business aviation. The main reason why businessmen all over the world choosing this type of aviation is that it helps to save time and to be more productive.
Another reason for strength of business aviation can be found at nation's commercial service portals, where 73% of passengers squeeze into 35 airports. Last year more than 28% of all U.S. flights were delayed, according to the FAA.
Business aviation provides 5000 airports around the U.S. enabling businesses to save time, extend their reach, keep management lean, and reduce wear and tear on key personnel.
According to Mike Fuhram, "With a business jet you can be a lot more productive". It's not just getting from Point A to Point B anymore. You can conduct business and have conferences and business meetings. Business jet provides "office in the sky" capability.

Jeff Bezos story

Next article is about Jeff Bezos, the dot-com billionaire who founded Amazon. He and his company were the original dot-com highfliers, with Amazon's stock hitting $361 just before its three-for-one split at the end of 1998. As it took off, so did the story of Amazon and its founder. One day in 1994, Bezos, a Princeton-educated financial analyst, was sitting at his desk at the Manhattan hedge fund D.E. Shaw when he noticed a shocking statistics: The number of users on the Internet was growing by 2,300% a year. A bit later, during the cross-country trip with his wife, he concocted a business plan for a company that would sell books online. He launched his startup in 1995 from Seattle, evolving it from a bookseller to the world's biggest online retailer, period.
By virtually any measure - market share, revenue, profit, stock price, customer satisfaction, international reach - Amazon is thriving. With 14.8 billion in revenue, it's ranked 171 on the Fortune 500 (up 66 places from previous year).
So how did he turn Amazon into a real business? It's easy to believe that Jeff Bezos is one of the great innovators, but that's not exactly the case. His rise into Fortune 500-dom actually has little to do with innovation and more to do with iteration. The trick is taking a million tiny steps - and learning quickly from your missteps.
By doing just that, Bezos has created one of the all-time great retail operations. But he's trying to built his company into web's biggest seller of digital media - downloadable copies of books, music, and movies - and turn it into a provider of the fundamental services that power business itself.
